The SEA Program’s mentor/tutors work very closely with their students. It is the bond and rapport that develops that is the key factor in driving results. They work closely with their students to assist with all school work, paying specific attention to classes with failing and poor grades. An emphasis is placed on helping the student acquire effective organization and study skills. All our mentor/tutors are vetted and trained in our specific and unique approach. The SEA Program extends far beyond basic tutoring or a homework help program.

Our Goal
To enable each student to reach their personal academic potential.

Giving Back
We request that every student in the program perform one good deed or act of kindness per session.

Our Results
Improved grades coupled with increased motivation to succeed in school, greater self-esteem, understanding of schoolwork, learning to be well organized and proactive, acquisition of effective study skills, and much more!

THE SEA PROGRAM

Our SEA (Successful Educational Achievement) Program services disadvantaged middle schoolers, who are in the mainstream classroom and at risk of academic failure. We provide both academic tutoring and mentorship, with a focus on critical organizational and study skills. Only those who could not otherwise afford this essential support, which is not available within the educational system are identified to participate. SEA operates as an after-school program. Days/times vary by site.

The SEA Program provides the caring, dedication, and guidance of trained and vetted mentor/tutors who focus on each student’s specific circumstances. Our students include those who are significantly below grade level in one or more subjects, experiencing failing grades, language barriers , a lack of understanding classwork, not completing or submitting work, etc. In addition, these students are often facing home-life and/or social challenges.

SEA students are those who are at risk of “falling through the cracks” and/or “don’t fit the mold”. These children, often frustrated or left to struggle on their own, often choose the wrong path, whether it be drugs, gangs, acting out, low-self esteem or depression, or other negative outcomes. Our work aims to provide a “safety net’ to “catch these students” and help set them on a positive course.

Mentor/tutors provide positive reinforcement and illustrate that their students CAN improve and pass their classes. Students in SEA are able to soar to greater success with the inspiration and motivation of their very own personal cheerleader and coach!
